How accurate are the calculator results?
The calculators use 2025 CRA tax rates and provide reliable planning estimates. However, they are simplified tools โ actual tax owing depends on your full personal situation, available deductions and credits, CRA assessments, and other factors. Use these for budgeting and planning, then consult a qualified accountant before filing.
What changed in Canada's capital gains tax for 2025?
Effective June 25, 2024, Canada introduced a two-tier capital gains inclusion rate for individuals: the first $250,000 of annual capital gains remains at a 50% inclusion rate, while gains above $250,000 are included at 66.67% (two-thirds). This threshold resets each calendar year. Corporations and trusts have a 66.67% inclusion rate on all capital gains.
Who is eligible for the GST/HST Quick Method?
The Quick Method is available to most small businesses with annual taxable supplies under $400,000. Eligible businesses elect to remit a flat percentage of total revenue (including GST/HST collected) rather than tracking individual ITCs. Certain professionals โ including lawyers, accountants, actuaries, and financial advisors โ are not eligible for the Quick Method.
