As you gather all of your slips and receipts to bring to us, it is important to ensure you are gathering sufficient documentation in case of a CRA review/audit. We have provided some useful tips below to ensure the documentation you have is sufficient:
Donation slips: For each donation made, get or request an official tax receipt. The receipt should have the date when the contribution was made and amount. Online receipts are not official unless it states so.
Medical expenses: For all of the expenses claimed there should be evidence that payment has been made. We recommend that you request a yearly summary report from your dentist, pharmacy chiropractor etc.
Employment expenses: If you incurred expenses to earn employment income for which you were not compensated for you should ensure you have a signed From T2200 from your employer. We further recommend that you review the form to ensure its accuracy.
